In the summer, your skin sweats more, gets more shiny, and the slightest layer of cream can feel like it’s clogging it. Here’s the right skincare routine to keep your complexion looking and feeling its freshest while protecting yourself from the sun.

In the summer, your skin sweats more, gets more shiny, and the slightest layer of cream can feel like it’s clogging it. Here’s the right skincare routine to keep your complexion looking and feeling its freshest while protecting yourself from the sun.

Start with a cleanser and toner on a clean and fresh base

A good summer skincare routine starts with cleansing. After wetting your face with cold water, add a dab of cleanser on your face to start removing excess sebum and any impurities. Who doesn’t want to start the day with their skin feeling fresh?

Next comes the step of the toner. After gently towel drying your face, you can spray 3-4 pumps of toner and then help it penetrate your skin by dabbing it with the flat areas of your hand. For even more freshness, you can store it in the fridge which makes this step downright addictive in the summer!

Bet everything on the right sunscreen that hydrates and protects in the morning

Afterwards, it's time to use your favorite targeted treatments you’re using before applying any moisturiser or sun protection. In the summer, we tend to want to reduce our routine and keep it to a minimum, especially since the sun already helps us look radiant. You can therefore skip the step of your uner-eye serum for example and keep it for your evening routine and just start directly applying your moisturiser and sun protection.

If you have normal to oily skin, you can get by with sunscreen (ideally SPF 50, and 30 at the least), that way you’re not overloading it with layers of product. On the other hand, if you have dry to normal skin, you should first put on a dab of mattifying face moisturiser and give it at least 30 seconds to penetrate before applying your sunscreen.

Among the sunscreens that are easy to find in any physical or online drugstore, La Roche Posay's fragrance-free Anthelios pocket fluid sunscreen SPF50+ has a good price-quality ratio, is ultra light without a greasy finish and leaves no white cast! Just as easy to find in a handy pump bottle is Vichy's Capital soleil UV-Age Daily SPF 50 which also doesn't leave a greasy finish, leaves no white cast, and doesn’t feel heavy on your skin. If you have dry skin and tattoos on your body that need to be protected from the sun, we recommend La Roche Posay's Anthelios SPF50+ sunscreen moisturising milk which can also be used on the face as well as on the body and leaves no streaks. greasy finish, and no white cast.

In the evening, we strongly recommend cleansing and then toning your face. The moment to apply your targeted care such as the under-eye serum is before your moisturiser to be sure to seal it all in order to go to bed with fresh, hydrated skin. Maintaining your skin with a daily routine is still the best secret to a healthy glow (and also to prolong your tan)!
